In every home, there’s always that ONE spot—a special corner where the family gathers, coffee in hand, conversation flowing. For our Lake Wylie project, that spot became the breakfast nook. Overlooking serene lake views, this little nook captures everything we love about laid-back, coastal-inspired design with a warm, family-friendly feel. Here’s a look at how this space came together and the thought behind every detail.

A Place for Gathering (and Staying a Little Longer)

What’s better than a morning spent waking up in a cozy nook? This breakfast nook was designed with family moments in mind. From solo coffee mornings to lively weekend brunches, we wanted a space that effortlessly adapts to each moment. The layout of the nook is inviting and intimate, encouraging everyone to linger just a little longer.

The velvety dining chairs we chose have become fast favorites—soft, plush, and incredibly comfy, making every breakfast feel like a retreat. They’re as stylish as they are cozy, with a touch of luxe that doesn’t overpower the relaxed atmosphere. Perfect for those lazy Sunday mornings! And guess what!? They are performance upholstry and will last the test of time.. or kids!

A Functional, Family-Friendly Space

Design isn’t just about looks; it’s about how the space feels and functions. In a family-centric home, practical details make all the difference. This nook sits in the back of the house, right by large windows with a prime view of the lake, so it was essential to manage the morning sunlight. We added bamboo roman shades—their natural, earthy texture is the perfect natural touch, and they provide just the right amount of sun control. No more squinting or fumbling with blinds while you’re sipping your coffee or working on a laptop!

Bringing in Airy Lakeside Vibes

To capture that breezy, lakeside feel, we kept the palette fresh and clean. The glass bubble chandelier in the nook reflect the natural light, adding an airy elegance without feeling fussy and heavy. It’s all about bringing the outdoors in, allowing the beauty of the lake view to take center stage. These fixtures are more than just lighting—they create an ambiance, subtly echoing the water’s surface and enhancing the room's open, inviting energy.

With the lake as our muse, we chose colors and textures that feel soothing and natural. Each element, from the shades to the seating, was picked with the goal of designing a nook that’s as restful as it is functional. This space is meant to feel like an escape right at home.
